Born and raised as Anise Robinson in Newark, NJ, Che-Che Da Supastar grew up as a young women with big dreams. Blessed with an immeasurable amount of talents, Che-Che found herself busy doing everything! From fixing televisions to remodeling houses, and from rapping and playing the drums to acting and CEOing her own record label, not to mention that she is a youth minister and an ordained evangelist, clearly Che-Che makes it obvious that there isn't anything that she can't do through Christ!
Extremely smart and academically blessed, Che-Che learned early on the importance of education, drive and motivation. She is a star athlete and has excelled particularly in basketball to the semi-pro level. Basketball has always been a passion of hers and she worked hard to be great in it and would not be deterred from reaching her dream of being in the WNBA. Her next level of ministry came, however, when she was faced with a tough decision her sophomore year of college. She attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC on a basketball scholarship and was right on track to reaching her WNBA goal. A year after giving her life to Christ, she hears the Lord speaking to her telling her to walk away from basketball and to pursue ministry full-time. This meant walking away from her dream of going to the WNBA, which she had ben chasing all of her life and was so close to actually achieving it.
After lots of prayer and thought, she chose to follow the call of the Lord. She declined the continuance of her basketball scholarship, left North Carolina and transferred to a college in New Jersey, which enabled her to continue with her education at a school closer to her home church where she could work in ministry at the same time.
As a young girl, Che-Che began rapping around the age of 8 and landed a record deal with an independent label along with her rapping partner. As time went on, she began to focus more on the basketball and eventually stopped rapping to devote more time to practicing and pursuing her hoop dreams.
After she gave her life to Christ in 1997, she began rapping again, this time, for the glory of the Lord. She started off doing it as a hobby and it snowballed into a full fledged career. She stumbled upon a manager by calling and trying to get front row seats to a Vickie Winans concert, who happens to be her favorite gospel singer. By the end of the phone conversation, she had a brand new manager and her debut performance was to open up for Vickie Winans! Nothing but the favor of God.
Che-Che recorded a mix cd and began building her own studio and producing her own music. She experienced great success on her own and later began touring and working with Jive recording artist BBJAY. She toured with BBJAY for a couple of years and branched off and started her own record label (Che-Star Records) and ministry (Che-Star Ministries). She released her debut CD entitled "Playa/Coach" in 2005 on her own record label and is preparing to release her sophomore CD project entitled "Camp Amazing."
Subsequently, not long after returning home from college, she was ordained as a youth minister and began working with the young people. She started a holy hip-hop group/choir called HGP at her church. She worked and remains to work closely by her Bishop and Pastor's side as their adjutant/armorbearer. She is also a musician, head of the audio/visual department, a sunday school teacher and she is the producer of her church ministry's television broadcast, among many other hats that she wears regularly.
A couple years later after returning form college, she was ordainded as an evangelist and began traveling and preaching the gospel in her very own unique way.
In June of 2004, Che-Che lost her mother to a rough struggle with lung cancer. Searching for understanding, closure and peace, she drew closer to God for extra strength as she continued to press her way to fulfill her ministerial responsibilities and balance the pain of the emptiness she felt. God kept her and continues to heal her heart, as she remains to be strength for so many others.
To add to her long list of ministries, Che-Che Da Supastar is also a radio dj/personality. Her radio show entitled "Terminal C," in which deejayed, self produced and engineered, ran for about 4 years on WFDU 89.1FM. In 2007, she changed stations and joined the HDMS FM digital internet radio family and can currently be heard on Saturdays at 12 noon on www.hdms.net.
She has also recently started her own online travel agency called "The Airborne Experience." You can book travel, plan vacations and even get tickets to shows, concerts, and sporting events and so much more. Being business minded and ministry minded, Che-Che is devoted to becoming successful in every aspect, which will enable her to seed into someone elses life in a greater capacity.
After being obedient to the call of God, making him first in her life, and serving faithfully, God honored her sacrifice of her basketball dream and blessed her with the opportunity to play semi-pro basketball in the New York league. She is the only player in the league to join a team without a tryout! Favor!
Che-Che Da Supastar has shared the stage with such greats as Vickie Winans, BBJAY, John P. Kee, Donnie McClurkin, Tonex, Donald Lawrence, Cross Movement, Da Truth, Trinity 5:7, Virtue and many more. Her unique style of blending positive and inspiring, uncompromised messages with comedy and entertainment makes her relatable to, and accepted by people of all ages and races.
To know Che-Che is to love her. Not only does she have a heart to give and naturally puts others before herself, but she is blessed with the gift of comedy and will make you smile and laugh until your stomach hurts and you forget that you ever had any sorrows. Her charming, inviting personality tends to penetrate through the walls people often put up, allowing her to touch their very hearts. Che-Che credits all of her accomplishments to Jesus Christ and knows that without Him, she is merely dust. She has committed her life to serving Him and will continue to do so until the day that she dies. "I understand that my purpose it to do the will of my Father. Therefore, I have to give Him all of me and do my best to please Him."
A special gift indeed is what we have in Che-Che Da Supastar.
Ministerial Statement
We have all been blessed with various gifts and abilities. My goal is to use each and every gift that the Lord has given me to effectively fulfill my role in kingdom building. I thank God for blessing me with the ability to touch someone's heart through my music and being able to spread some joy with a little comedy and laughter. The goal is to inspire, enlighten and encourage as many as possible. I have a heart for the people and I believe that God has called me to do a great work. It is a great honor to be chosen and trusted by God to carry such a charge. I'm excited about what He is doing and humbled to even be a part of His awesome plan. To God be the glory!
